US / Israel War with Iran: Currently there is a cease fire in place however tensions are still very high between Iran and the US/Israel. The United States has instituted a blockade in the Strait of Hormuz which is causing much pressure on the Iranians to come to an agreement. Fox news reports that Iran has put forth a proposal so that the Strait is opened but President Trump is not happy with it as there are no concessions on their nuclear program the reason why America went to war. Pray Iran will modify it’s proposal to include their nuclear program so a more permanent cease fire can be agreed upon. Out of a population of 93 million the underground church in Iran continues to grow. There are approximately 1 million Iranian Christians and many of them are bold for Christ. These Christians have gotten a taste of the freedom found in Christ and they want their country to move away from Islam and to embrace Christianity. Close to 50000 Iranians died in the protests that took place earlier this year but these Christians are undeterred. They look forward to a time when the current evil regime has been overthrown and freedoms of religion and others are restored. Pray the Lord will help this come to pass and for Iran to stop funding groups like Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houtis who continue to take up arms against Israel and the United States.
Israel’s PM Benjamin Netanyahu may travel to Washington in a few weeks for a summit with the Lebanese President Aoun on May 11th. The summit will be held only if the security situation in the region permits Netanyahu to leave Israel. The purpose of the summit would be for Israel and Lebanon to build a stronger relationship despite activity by Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, who continue to fire missiles into Northen Israel. Pray the meeting can take place and the two countries can begin healing while eradicating Hezbollah.

Pray for the men and women of the IDF fighting to keep Israel safe. As the war has dragged on, many IDF soldiers have been injured. Hospitals are getting short of space and resources to treat them. This will become more of a problem moving forward if the war continues. Pray hospitals can expand and receive the resources they need to heal those who have sacrificed their lives.

Shavuot commemorates the anniversary of the day G-d gave the Torah to the Israeli nation assembled at Mount Sinai, although the association between the giving of the Torah (Matan Torah) and Shavuot is not explicit in the Biblical text it is implied.

Lag B’Omer – Eve of May 4th until eve of May 5th. The day of passing of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai. Modern Jewish tradition links the holiday to the Bar Kokhba Revolt against the Roman Empire (132-135 CE) signifying the Jewish spirit.
